Presentation Zen: Intro to Agile & Scrum vs. FDD

I was reminded late that my scheduled 45 minute talk was actually a 90 minute talk so I was struggling a bit last weekend to get enough content in place so I didn’t leave a lot of dead air. And since I’ve been trying to do all of my speaking gigs in the Presentation Zen style (amzn), getting content together meant finding/making relevant graphics in addition to the actual Agile content I was presenting. Thus far, the Zen style of presenting has met with favorable reviews so I’ll keep doing it, but man is it a lot of work. At an hour-and-a-half, it’s probably the longest presentation I’ve done, but I composed it so that it has three standalone pieces of equal length:
- Introduction to Agile
- Introduction to Scrum
- Introduction to FDD
They’re designed for shops that don’t really have a good handle on what Agile is in general, and what some of the specifics of different flavors have a tendency to be. I picked Scrum and FDD for this discussion because they seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum with regards to built-in rigor (at least from a metrics standpoint). Because Zen presentations aren’t designed to stand-on-their own (the slide content is minimal, with the speaker filling in the holes), I’m going to be recording a screen cast of each of the 30 minute segments so that hopefully, the slide deck plus the screen cast will provide a good message.
[EDIT: I've posted the actual presentations on the Downloads page. Screen cast with the narrative will be forthcoming.]

I would appreciate if you could post the links to Scrum and FDD. I come from a Scrum background but have recently moved to a company who use FDD. I interested in the differences between these two agile practices.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris. I'll post them tonight and put links to them in the blog post. They're visual presentations so hopefully they'll make sense (and they're kind of "big"). Once you get them, let me know if you have any questions.
